“Supporting Researchers: A seminar for Faculty Support Services staff” was held by the Library on August 17th, as part of the College’s aims to improve facilities and support for its researchers.
With talks and presentations from College academic & support staff, students, the Grad Schools and the Postdoc Development Centre, the aim of the seminar was to gather ideas for how the services offered to researchers at Imperial could be improved.
The Library has recognised that it can sometimes appear that services have been targeted at undergraduates, and is actively looking to improve its offering to postgraduates and researchers.
New areas of the website, an increased number of PCs, rezoning at various campus libraries and a new focus on the role of liaison librarians are just some of the changes underway in Imperial's libraries.
Areas of discussion included Endnote training, postdoc use of facilities, common research problems, and how new technology could save time and effort.
