This summer, the Graduate Students’ Association has several exciting social events in store for postgraduates. The first event organised by the GSA Events Team was a Postgraduate Film Night, held on Wednesday 28 July 2010 in the Clore Lecture Theatre of the Huxley Building (South Kensington Campus).
An online survey on the GSA website (http://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/gsa) determined which film would be screened, the winning title being The Hurt Locker, which narrowly beat Shutter Island by just one vote. Priced at £2 each, tickets for the Postgraduate Film Night included the film screening (with self-service popcorn), followed by a social reception where complimentary beer, wine, sodas and juice drinks, as well as peanuts and crisps, were all provided.
Overall, the Postgraduate Film Night was a firing success and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. There were many happy faces on the night with several attendees commenting that they had greatly enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and relax after work.
Nevertheless, in the GSA we believe there is always room for improvement! Admittedly, not everything was up to our own high standards on the night, but we will work hard to ensure Film Nights in the future are even better than this one!
