Representation Coordinator
Please note that this post is currently available only to College employees.
The Membership Services Department of Imperial College Union provides administrative and management support to the student officers who oversee the non-commercial functions of the Students’ Union. The Representation Coordinator will perform a key role in developing the work of the department, by extending targeted support to the student volunteers involved within the student academic representation system throughout the University.
The post-holder will coordinate, support and develop the Union’s academic representative structures. The post-holder will be responsible for enhancing student representation across the University within all sectors of the student population; training and supporting volunteer representatives and administering and developing representative structures. The post holder will endeavor to continually increase the effectiveness of representation and ensure a culture of participation and personal development.
The post-holder will also be responsible for working with relevant officers and staff to research issues affecting students both at Imperial College London and in the wider student movement, now and in the future. It is intended that the post-holder will provide continuity from year to year as student officers change and to help ensure that initiatives become embedded in the culture of Imperial College life, particularly for postgraduate students.
This is a challenging role - the Student Union has clear and extensive ambitions for the system of academic representation throughout the University over the next few years. Applicants should have a passion for working with elected representatives, allowing them to make the most from their time in office. The role requires flexibility with regards to work patterns, and will involve regular evening and some weekend work.
