Students will usually experience a few adverse events during their time at Imperial, and it's inevitable that this will have some impact on your studies. In these cases it is always a good idea to talk to your Personal Tutor.
Your Personal Tutor is a member of the academic staff who is allocated to your for the duration of your studies to offer help and support, as well as following your personal progress and development throughout the course. Some departments allocate slots in the timetable for meetings with Personal Tutors. Usually however, it is up to you to organise when you meet. Often Personal Tutors are very busy people, but they should make time to see you, even if you have to book a time in advance. Sometimes you will meet as a group, although you can always request an individual meeting. You can discuss anything which is causing you difficulties with your Personal Tutor. If it is something they feel somebody else may be better able to help you with they will offer to refer you. The Personal Tutors report to a Senior Tutor within your department.
The College Tutors oversee all Senior Tutors and are also available for individual advice. They are concerned with both student welfare and college/student relationships and are happy to see any student, undergraduate or postgraduate, who would like to talk to them, in confidence, about any problem. If you email the College Tutors one of them will get back to depending on the nature of your concern.
