The Careers Advisory Service provides careers advice and choice resources, seminars on writing a CV and the rest of the application process, and information on employers and skills workshops.
They are located on Level 5 of the Sherfield Building and are available to make an appointment with any student to discuss their career.
The Chaplaincy exists for students of all faiths and offers supports for people wanting to explore their religion. The team consists of mainly Christians, but they also support the different faith societies around campus. They offer the chance to explore different identities and experiences of faith and belief. The Chaplaincy is located in the East Wing Basement of Beit Quad, where there is a dedicated prayer room where you can pray or meditate.
The Student Counselling Service is a College-run team of qualified counsellors who offer short term counselling for concerns that you might find embarrassing or difficult to talk about with your friends and family. They cover a wide range of topics including homesickness, work and study anxiety, bereavement, sexual issues, abuse, depression and suicidal feelings. Sessions run by the Counselling Service last around 45 minutes and they are free to students.
The Dean of Learning and Teaching is incharge of developing and implementing a number of initiatives designed to enhance the learning experience for Imperial students.
The Dean of Students is responsible for the Welfare of all students. Almost all the support services in college report to the Dean of Students, so if you feel youíve suffered a bad deal with regards to the service youíve received, this is the person to see. The Deputy President (Welfare) has regular, frequent contact with them and can contact the Dean about anything on your behalf.
The dental clinic welcomes all new patients. New patients and current patients are required to sign up annually to be entitled to NHS dental treatment.
The dentist is located in the central section of Southside in Prince's Gardens.
The College Disability Advisory Service is located in the Sherfield Building and is available to students to discuss issues concerning accessibility, accommodation and financial entitlement. Those of you who are eligible to apply for the Disabled Students' Allowance and for Government funds administered by Local Education Authorities. The Disabilities Officer can also offer Dyslexia testing for students who may think they are affected. All discussions are confidential and can take place in halls and other campuses.
The DPE is responsible for coordinating and training the representation network, which includes all of the academic reps, and holding regular academic forums to gather student opinion about issues related to their course. They will sit on a number of college committees including those relating to both undergraduate and postgraduate education, e-portfolios, careers and the student experience. Their purpose for attending is to represent student views with the aim of making the academic experience at Imperial one of the best in the world.
The DPW coordinates campaigns and information concerning student welfare, working closely with the Unionís Student Advisor, student volunteers and the Collegeís Welfare services. They represent studentsí welfare needs to College and external organisations, and sit on a number of College committees relating to welfare, accommodation, equal opportunities and the student experience. They are also responsible for the activities of the Unionís Community Action Group and IC RAG.
