Imperial win 10 Medals at BUCS

Bucsnews

A superb showing at the BUCS Championships 2010 in Sheffield saw Imperial win 10 medals including five golds, three slivers and two bronzes. Congratulations to all who were involved, a great performance!

Waterpolo
Men’s Trophy Winners – (beat St Andrews in the final) – GOLD MEDAL
Fencing
Men’s Team – Championship Runners-up (Lost to Cambridge) – SILVER MEDAL
Women’s Team – Championship Runners-up (Lost to Edinburgh) – SILVER MEDAL
In addition, Hannah Bryars won player of the tournament and Marcello Colombino won the fair play award.
Snooker
Team trophy Winners – GOLD MEDAL
Judo
Alex Murphy – Individual Winner in the Men’s U66Kg Kyu Event – GOLD MEDAL
Ualikhan Yesbolov – Individual Winner in the U90Kg Event – GOLD MEDAL
Tom Zamacinski – Individual Winner in the U81Kg Kyu Event – GOLD MEDAL
Rahul Bose – Individual Runner-up in the U73Kg Event – SILVER MEDAL
Edouard Desclaux – Individual 3rd place in the U73Kg Event – BRONZE MEDAL
Men’s Team Event consisting of Wilhelm Kleiminger, Edouard Desclaux, Rahul Bose, Tom Zamacinski and Ualikhan Yesbolov were crowned Men’s Team Winners – BRONZE MEDAL
Men’s Squash
Suffered a tough loss in the semi-finals of the championship knockouts against Nottingham losing 3-2 and finished in a very credible 4th place nationally overall.
Women’s Volleyball
Had some tough games against Bath, Edinburgh, Bristol and UCL but did extremely well to reach the last 8 nationally.
Ultimate Frisbee
The Disc Doctors won their group and advanced to the Division 2 finals where they narrowly lost out to Bath.
Futsal
Played some excellent games and suffered a tough defeat in their last match against Leeds Met which went to penalties
Archery
Finished in the top 10 (out of 33) which was an excellent result.
Rifle
Our loan competitor Ben Ebbetts did very well after qualifying into the individuals finals, finishing in the top 20 nationally.
Athletics
The competition was fierce but we had some great performances from Menyah in the Triple Jump and Pauline Obale in the 200m amongst others.

Climbing
A small team tackled the varying difficulty of boulders at the indoor climbing event putting Imperial on the climbing map.
