The second phase of our Beit Redevelopment Project, which will see the Student Activities Centre moved to a new mezzanine level of the second floor, has secured all the finances necessary to go ahead.
Phase two of the redevelopment will see a number of essential works take place on our Building, all of which we see as essential for the future. The gym on the second floor will be developed to have a mezzanine level which will house a new bespoke built Student Activities Centre. Whilst the meeting rooms on the third floor will be moved to the east basement, taking up the freed up space from the SAC move. The third floor will then be transformed into a multi-purpose space focusing on a gym and dance space.
Work on the central core will also be completed, adding much-needed new wiring and also many additions to our building services in line with the Union's environmental policy. These include timed heating, insulation and double-glazing.
We will be putting the works out to tender in the new year and hope to start the second phase by Easter.
