At the end of December ICGC will be travelling up to the Scottish Gliding Centre at Portmoak airfield, close to Edinburgh. The dates are for the 27th December to the 2nd January inclusive.
We will have 496, our two-seater trainer, and possibly a single seater aircraft. For those who are still training, there is absolutely no doubt that a concentrated period of training with the same instructors really helps progression. We'll have our own instructor there, and you'll get lots of one-to-one training including ground based stuff on crap days. The flying will be around Lasham prices, a little bit cheaper actually. Plus, the change of site will do you good - you'll have to think a bit :)

So, what's different about flying at Portmoak than just flying at the weekends at Lasham I hear you cry? Well, they have hills! Wind is deflected up and over the hill, and this creates two forms of life: ridge lift that works when flying close ish to the hill; and wave lift which can carry you right up to 30,000ft! At Lasham, the chances of soaring in Winter are limited, at Portmoak on a good day you can clock up flights of many hours! And the scenery is simply breathtaking!
