Social Clubs

Under the broad umbrella of “social clubs” you will find all of our religious, political, philosophical, music appreciation and social societies. This includes everything from Alternative Music Society to Anime, from Film Appreciation to Finance and from Palestinian to PetSoc. These societies focus on getting like-minded people together to have fun, and being a member of a social club will make your University career more interesting and enjoyable.

Religion
Imperial caters for a large range of religions. Whether you’re a Christian using the Chaplaincy Centre or a Muslim using the prayer room, you can find somewhere for all your religious needs.
Our religious societies provide an ideal environment for you to meet people with similar beliefs, whilst also organising weekend trips away, talks from various speakers and many other socially orientated activities.

Entertainment
Where would society be without television? The members of the Anime or J-Dorama (Japanese animation and drama) societies would probably be in a very poor state indeed. We also boast the largest student science fiction library in the UK, where members meet every lunchtime for video showings, to borrow books, or to chill out in a very comfortable environment.

Music
The nightlife scene at imperial is bolstered by such societies as the Clubbing Society, through which you can gain an introduction to many of London’s nightclubs, and the Alternative Music Society, which gives you the chance to experience something new and different.

Politics
Politics is everywhere, including university, and you should always be able to find like-minded people. Of course, if you prefer to stay neutral (or perhaps not) there’s an active and engaging debating society.

Beer
The social clubs organise many large events, club nights, meals and excursions. A focus is put on regular meetings, often just to catch up and have a beer. No one wants to drink alone! Thanks to the Union’s system of funding you may even reach the Nirvana of being a student: getting lots of stuff for free!
