Ultimate Frisbee

acc ultimateUltimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport in which a disc is passed between players (who can’t move while holding it) and points are scored by catching the disc in the pitch’s endzones. It’s a bit like netball with a Frisbee. Frisbee is a mixed sport, and one for which girls won’t need the upper body of a shotputter, or thighs like treetrunks to be the equal of the boys. Boys shouldn’t think that this means that frisbee’s some namby-pamby sport though – although it’s less physical than say rugby, the intensity and urgency of the game are much higher (and you’ll meet lots of girls – a rare treat at Imperial).

It’s also one of the best sports there is for keeping fit and toned, as there’s barely a moment when you’re not moving. We send teams to tournaments throughout the year, including one this term just for freshers, and regularly qualify for Student Nationals. The social side’s awesome too, with socials throughout the year as well as the obligatory post-training drinks. Everyone’s welcome, even complete beginners – most of our first team had never played before coming to Imperial and now represent the university at a national level.
