Imperial College School of Medicine Boat Club

Icsmb Boat Pic 1

The Imperial College School of Medicine Boat Club was formed in 1997 from the two most successful medical rowing clubs in London. We row from the University of London boathouse, predominantly in eights and fours, yet also go out in a pair and a scull. We compete within the United Hospital competitions against the other London medical schools and also further afield in various ARA events.

In the last 10 years we have enjoyed massive success, winning the coveted Head position in the men's UH Bumps competition no fewer than 8 times and dominating UH at novice level. We have also won medals at BUSA and won numerous regattas and heads across the Tideway.

We train on Wednesday afternoons and on Saturday for the girls or Sunday for the boys. Individual crews can choose to hold extra outings or as much land training as they wish. We accomodate crews that train most days, as well as those that only want to row on Wednesday and at the weekend.

Within the College and beyond, ICSMBC has become known for combining impressive performance on the water with memorable social events off it. We have a hectic schedule of tours and nights out throughout the year, giving the club a friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Our friendships and spirit are never more evident than at the ARA Head of the River races, where our crews always enjoy the loudest and most enthusiastic support from Hammersmith Bridge.
