Afro-Caribbean

The Imperial College Afro-Caribbean Society is a fusion of both the African and Caribbean Cultures. The ACS is a very active society that aims to promote awareness about cultures amongst our members as well as fellow Imperial College students.

We do so by organising various events that showcase an array of numerous cultures. Events include cultural shows, food nights, movie nights, career events (involving many prestigious firms and companies) and many others. Our biggest event of the year is the Afro-gala. We use this occasion to amalgamate ourselves with other non Afro-Caribbean cultures and also to showcase our beautiful culture. This gives our members, as well as the other participants, the opportunity to bond whilst taking part in various activities such as dancing, acting and the fashion show.

To provide a balance to our fun filled social lives, we also have career talks. Here, with the help of our sponsors, we aim to provide assistance and guidance towards job applications, interviews and internships as we know that this is an integral part of student life.

Our society welcomes other cultures, hence the collaboration with others during our Afro-gala. By doing so we are all able to enlighten others about our culture as well as learn about different religions and ethnicities from which we come to appreciate the richness of it all.
