Club/Society Event
Over the past few weeks, students and staff have been invited to submit their photographic representation of the exhibition theme - ‘Women in Science’ - in a college-wide competition organised by the student society for Women in Science, Engineering & Technology (WSET). The top 30 photographs are now on display in the Business School Entrance (8-12 March 2010).
We.Are.Science- Photography Competition and Exhibition was opened by Munira Mirza, Arts & Culture advisor to the Mayor of London, in the Business School Entrance on International Women's Day- 8th March 2010. The photographs will remain on display from 8-12 March 2010 in the Business School Entrance.
A public vote is now open to all members of college- vote for the photograph you think should win out of the 30 exhibited- the winner will be awarded a prize!
‘We.Are.Science’ taps into the creativity and artistic perceptions of students and staff at Imperial College London, to explore issues related to gender and equality in science and engineering. This project also highlights the efforts made by the College to achieve a balanced workforce in these sectors. It follows on from the success of ‘100 Women – 100 Visions’, a professional portrait series of women scientists and engineers from all academic levels commissioned by WSET during 2009, which is currently on exhibit in London’s City Hall until 19 March 2010.
This event is sponsored by IBM, the Old Centralians’ Trust and the Imperial College Union Representation and Welfare Board.
