The Annual Varsity day is set to be the biggest yet, finishing in the traditional show down of ICU RFC and ICSM RFC in the JPR Williams Varsity Match.
Wednesday 17 March sees the annual Varsity event. This show down of colossal magnitude will see the Imperial College teams take on the Imperial College Medics in everything from rugby to water polo. Spread across three different sites in London the day finishes with ICU RFC going head to head with ICSM RFC in the JPR Williams Rugby Varsity Match at The Old Deer Park Rugby Ground, Richmond.
In addition to the Varsity Match, the two main sites for the day are Harlington Sports Ground and Ethos. Harlington will play host to rugby, football, lacrosse and hockey matches, which spectators require tickets to view, with matches starting at 12:00. After the Harlington results are announced, the crowds will be transported over to the Richmond Ground for the grand finale. Meanwhile the yearly mix of netball, badminton and water polo will be held at Ethos.
Unfortunately Ethos lacks viewing areas and so matches held there are not open to spectators.
The main Varsity Match (kick-off at 1930), is named after St Mary's old boy, John Peter Rhys Williams, a former Wales full back and is the largest spectator event in Imperials sports calendar. Set up in 2003 the event has grown in popularity each year with over 1200 spectators attending the evening game.
£10 buys access to all the matches including the JPR Williams game, as well as transport to and from South Kensington/Charing Cross to Harlington and then on to Richmond. £8 tickets online will get you access to the evening JPR Williams game at Richmond whereas tickets on the gate for the evening game will be £10.
If you are not participating in any of the Varsity sports you will have to make your own way to the ground to watch the JPR Williams Varsity Match. If you are participating in any of the Varsity sports, either at Harlington or Ethos, then please ensure you purchase a ticket with travel included. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TICKET WITH TRAVEL INCLUDED YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE COACHES.
