Student Activities Centre

The Student Activities Centre is open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday, providing all of the services that you might need to successfully operate a club or society at Imperial College Union.

Networked PCs are available, equipped with Microsoft Office and other software. An industrial photocopier is also available with free printing for Clubs & Societies. A free phone line and fax facilities are also provided. Club & Society post is delivered to pigeon holes in the centre. The Centre is also home to the staff who deal with Club & Society finances.

 

The centre staff coordinate a variety of things to ensure Clubs & Societies run smoothly:

  • Minibus bookings and Driver Introductions
  • Coach bookings
  • Key lists for Club & Society store rooms
  • Coordinate sports fixtures via the Sports Partnership Administrator
  • Process document submissions from Clubs & Societies
  • Maintain contact lists
  • Deal with general enquires from Club & Society Officers

There are also a number of facilities that can be rented from the centre for Club, Society or Project events. They are as follows:

  • 4 Projectors Please ensure they are allowed to cool before switching off entirely.
  • 3 Screens
  • VGA Cables
  • 1 OHP You must provide your own transparencies.
  • 1 Mobile PA Instructions provided. There are 2 microphones and music can also be played from an IPod or similar. Do NOT leave microphones switched on after you have finished but please report if the batteries run low.
  • 1 Water urn Capacity 8 litres to be used for boiling water only. Must be returned empty.

You should visit the centre to rent these facilities. You can also check their availability under the “Bookings” tab on eActivities after logging in. There is no charge associated with booking any of this equipment but your club will be charged if it is not returned promptly or in the same state it was provided.

All equipment must be collected between 10:00 and 18:00 on weekdays and on Friday for over the weekend as these are the Student Activities Centre opening times. The exception is the Mobile PA which is stored in a large silver box in the store room at the end of the corridor behind the Union gym. When you make your booking the SAC will give you a permission slip allowing Security to give you Key 46 which will give you access to that store for the duration of your booking.

The centre is situated on the Mezzanine level of the Union building in Beit Quadrangle. Press the "M" button on the lift.
