The Imperial College Triathlon Club, TriIC, caters for all students and staff at Imperial interested in multi-sports (triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon), whether they are a seasoned triathletes or absolute novices. Indeed the ambitions of our club members range from completing their first sprint triathlon to qualifying for the Ironman World Championship.
We hold weekly coached swim, track and strength & conditioning sessions (included in the membership), in addition to non-coached, more informal evening and lunch-time runs, as well as afternoon and weekend bike rides. Some of our sessions are held jointly with the Cross Country & Athletics and Cycling clubs. Many club members additionally take advantage of the classes offered at Ethos, especially the spin sessions. Closer to the racing season we organise brick sessions (i.e. involving more than one sport) and open water swims.
All the sessions are relaxed with no obligation to attend, yet for the dedicated athlete there are plenty of solid training opportunities. The club provides support for racing, and has helped a number of members through their first races, for instance by providing transport to venues.
With Union backing, members can enjoy subsidised entries to the BUCS championship races (a duathlon, a sprint and an Olympic distance triathlon annually). Being a member of the club also allows you to participate in the London Triathlon League races. By becoming a club member you join a community of motivated and friendly triathletes and can take advantage of a great training environment at Imperial. We look forward to meeting you!
