Opera (Medics)
The Light Opera Society is one of the longest
running societies at Imperial, dating as far back as the Old St Mary’s Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital Medical Schools. A society steeped in traditions, such as ice cubes and the ‘warm up’ to name but a few (all will be revealed on joining!), we manage to produce an incredibly professional musical annually such as, ‘The Hot Mikado’, ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘Fame!’ all starring our highly talented singers, dancers and actors.
In between rehearsals and performances, we also manage to be very social and fun and our parties are renowned throughout medical school for their ‘liveliness’. However, we are also good Samaritans and in the last three years we have raised money for our RAG charity by doing a twenty-four hour Opera. This year our performance of ‘We Will Rock You’ was very warmly received by the audience and the standard was outstanding considering the cast and crew had only 24 hours torehearse and perform the entire show! So please, join our talented, fun loving and not to mention good looking members of medical school for some debauchery. Do not worry if you have never done anything like this before, we welcome opera virgins!
