Are you dissatisfied with health inequalities and increasing levels of poverty? Are you concerned about the continuing spread of HIV/AIDS? Maybe you're angry about exploitation of third world workers? Or perhaps you're a student who simply wants a more three-dimensional understanding of global health.

If so you should join Medsin Imperial!

Medsin Imperial is part of a national student network which educates, empowers and enables students to act against global health inequalities at a local and global level.

We educate our members through regular lectures, debates and discussions on global health issues through our Global Health Forum (GHF). GHF events attract renowned international speakers who lecture on the very latest in national and international initiatives to reduce the huge inequalities in health we are faced with today. Past events have included debates and lectures on private versus public healthcare, the role of the Catholic Church in HIV transmission and prevention and the WHO and millennium goal achievements.

We promote some of the most important and deserving Campaigns including HIV/AIDS awareness and Water poverty eradication. Every year we hold large fundraising events for charities associated with these including Union club nights, Pub quizzes, pub crawls, dodge ball tournaments and the occasional stunt to draw attention to the issues and raise loads money. Our campaign events are recognised college wide and are the highlight of the academic year for Medsin Imperial so they are well worth getting involved in.

We have several Projects that focus on making a real and perceptible difference to health by acting at a local level. These include projects such as Sexpression who you can train with to provide sexual health education to school children, Save a baby’s life who you can train with to provide CPR to babies and infants, Marrow who help promote registration onto the bone marrow register and recruit actively through blood clinics held regularly throughout the year and many more small projects that all allow you to directly impact on health.
