Imperial College Leonardo Fine Arts Society is named after Leonardo Da Vinci, great man of Science, Engineering, Medicine and Art. It was founded by Mehul Khimasia, Angela Darekar, Huma Islam, Ola Al Deeb and Yoon Yong in November 1993. You can read the Felix article "Art Anyone?" in page 11, where LeoSoc first was announced to the College.
The annual membership is £8, which you can buy online at our Shop.
Your membership gives you access to all Leonardo Fine Arts Society has to offer: Three types of Art Sessions including all materials and tutoring, our Studio containing all the materials you could possibly need, the chance to contribute to our two annual society exhibitions, our Easter Tour, and our regular gallery visits and quirky nights out!
Each time you attend a Monday Session it will be £2 for the session fee, or £3 if it's a life drawing class.
For Intermediate Session prices check out our Shop.
Staff and students of all abilities welcome!
You just have to choose what Sessions suit you best:
Monday Sessions for cheap, drop-by-when-you-want, try-all-sorts-of-techniques tutoring.
Intermediate Sessions for steady improvement of your technique in weekly small group classes.
Weekend Sessions for free sporadic sessions thought by fellow LeoSoc members.
Just yourself! We provide all the art materials and equipment and your membership and session fees cover the cost of these, the models and the art tutor (and the tea and coffee and biscuits!). However you are welcome to bring your own materials and sketch pads if you want to.
Unknown to most people, Imperial actually has its own gallery, located on the 5th floor of the Sherfield building, called the Blyth Gallery, which is curated by Mindy Lee. This is where we hold exhibitions of our work at least once a year. During the rest of the year, professional artists exhibit their work and you can attend the free gallery openings, where there will be wine and bites to eat. If you haven’t done so already, you can sign up to the mailing list for the gallery to hear news of exhibitions and openings by emailing Mindy at gallery@imperial.ac.uk. She also holds art workshops during lunchtimes.
