Karate do Shotokai
Karate Do Shotokai (KDS) is a traditional martial arts style with roots that date back to the emergence of karate in Japan. It was developed as an effective system of self defence without the use of weapons. KDS teaches techniques (punches, kicks and blocks) firmly within the context of relaxed body condition, timing, speed and power.
Training is nearly always conducted one-to-one with fellow students or instructors. Lessons are taught by four experienced black belt instructors and the club regularly attends weekend courses run by KDS Principal Master Harada Sensei. You do not need to be particularly fit to start as training can be geared to your own level of ability. The only kit required is loose-fitting clothes.
