What is Jujitsu/Ju-Jitsu/Jitsu?

Ju-jitsu is a Japanese martial art that specialises in using an opponents power against them, employing throws, locks and strikes. Our style (Shorinji Kan) of Ju-Jitsu is developed for practical unarmed self defence in the modern world. Newbies (that's presumably you!) learn how to deal with punches, grabs and bottle attacks as well as how to roll and fall safely. Later, you'll learn to deal with weapons (knives, chains, bats etc.), defence against multiple attackers and ground fighting. Jitsu teaches practical self defence that can be used by anyone - male or female, large or small.

We're affiliated with The Jitsu Foundation, and there are regular courses for all clubs in London, taught by some of the best instructors, and regular gradings. Two national competitions for all levels are held each year and involve all the clubs getting together for a weekend. Courses and gradings provide opportunities to meet and train with other London universities.

This year, we're hoping that our newer members can come to the forefront of the club, and take a more active role.

What do I need to start?

All you need to start Jitsu is a tracksuit bottom, or some loose trousers and a t-shirt that you don't mind getting dirty. Beginners are welcome at all our sessions, so pick one and show up.

Gender and size are not issues

If you're using power to do Ju-jitsu, you're doing it wrong. Jujitsu stresses technique and accuracy with efficient use of power, to redirect the opponent's force rather than nullify it.

We accept new students all year round

and your first session is always free.

If you have ANY questions, please do contact us, check our session times and just show up for a session. You'll love it.
