The award-winning IC Big Band is one of the most active musical societies at Imperial College, performing throughout the academic year at a variety of venues around the country. Our ever expanding repertoire includes arrangements made famous by the likes of Gordon Goodwin, Buddy Rich and Frank Sinatra.
The big band's very popular gigs form an integral part of the Union entertainment calendar, culminating in our performance at the Summer Ball. Over the last few years we have played gigs with the Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra, the Royal College of Music Big Band and the University of Bristol Big Band, in addition to playing at some of the top jazz clubs in London and jazz festivals around the country.
The Summer of 2010 saw the band travel to China, after being invited to play at the World Exposition in Shanghai, continuing the tradition of undertaking an international tour every Summer. The band has a very active social life revolving around weekly rehearsals, frequent gigs and going to see jazz gigs around London.
