e.quinox is an award winning student-led humanitarian project that develops sustainable electrification solutions for developing countries. We endeavour to find a solution that is not only sustainable financially, but is scalable, replicable and adaptable to the environment. The society organizes two trips to Rwanda every year with project implementation in September.
Since e.quinox was founded two years ago, it has undertaken three expeditions and implemented a pilot project in the Northern Province of Rwanda. Currently the club is implementing three new projects, which will electrify nearly 400 homes. Though still a young organization, e.quinox has raised over 80,000GPB and has won several awards. The society works closely with large international organizations such as the Belgian Technical Cooperation, the Rwandan Ministry of Infrastructure and the United Nations Development Programme. Furthermore we are working with students from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology.
e.quinox isn't all about electronics - Do you prefer the business side of things? We are trying to prove that electrification solutions are not pure charity, but that with an appropriate business model, these projects can be economically sustainable. Are you into finances? Help us manage our accounts and get involved in fundraising. Do you like design, media or marketing? Help us develop our professional image and to spread the word. Ofcourse, if you are into electronics, you can help develop a new generation of electrification solutions, which will be implemented in future projects.
If you are not sure where you fit it, but still want to get involved, just come to one of our meetings. We are always looking for enthusiastic students that can contribute to what we believe is one of the most exciting and vibrant student societies at Imperial.
