Environmental

Esoc Garden

ESoc was established by students who were concerned about the environment in the context of social, cultural, political and economic issues. Activities range from grass roots activism, involvement in national campaigns and the organisation of the Union’s Green Week. We also maintain our own “secret” wildlife garden on campus which last year saw the introduction of an allotment programme for members, as well as a new pond.

Previous achievements have included getting the Union to pass an Environmental Policy, as well as encouraging College to become greener. The society also organises trips to sites of environmental interest from wildlife sanctuaries on the Thames, Kew Gardens as well as the Eden project, and is always keen to explore new places and get involved in local and wider-ranging environmental activities. In addition to campaigning and gardening, the society frequently holds events and BBQs in the garden, often with food we have grown ourselves!

We are a very sociable group, providing the opportunity for like-minded people to come together and socialise as well as change the world around them for the better. To find out more join our facebook page www.facebook.com/ic.esoc
