Imperial College Boat Club was founded in 1919. Originally, the club was housed in Thames Rowing Club, but in 1938 the club moved into their own boathouse, designed by Charles Bristow.
The most famous coach of Imperial College boat club is Bill Mason, who was a former Olympic Oarsman himself and was responsible for many wins at Henley Royal Regatta and Henley Women's Regatta. Under Bill, the club improved substantially. Other coaches have included Olympic Gold Medallists, Simon Dennis and Steve Trapmore.
