Amnesty International

Handbook

Amnesty International Society at Imperial College works in collaboration with Amnesty International UK, based in London, to campaign for the promotion of human rights. The society at Imperial publicises current AIUK campaigns on campus with talks, fliers, stalls, film showings, on campus campaigning and attending peaceful demonstrations in the hope of raising awareness of human rights violations around the world and at home. Last year the group donned jumpsuits and collected signatures encouraging the closure of Guantanamo Bay.

Current campaigns include ‘Demand Dignity’ and ‘Protect the Human’. The pictures, along with those of thousands of others from people around the world were presented to the UN during June. As a break from the usual serious business, members enjoy Christmas and Easter socials. On the whole, the direction the club takes is largely up to the members. New ideas and members are always welcome. Most of our events are free and open to all so do look out for them!
